What do we understand with infertility?

Causes of female infertility

- Problem in the Ovaries: Progesterone is a female hormone produced by the ovaries. It causes the lining of the uterus to congeal as it prepares for a probable fetus. However, if the amount of hormone produced is less, there is a possibility that uterus may be unable to bear the fetus leading to miscarriage.
- Endometriosis: Progesterone hormone is accountable for the uterus lining. When the tissue found in this uterus lining grows outside the uterus, usually in the pelvic cavity, it is known as endometriosis. The common symptoms of endometriosis are discomforting menstrual periods, pelvic pain and painful intercourse. However, in some females, there will no symptoms at all.
- Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases (PID): This is a prevalent cause of infertility in women. Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases are caused by bacteria, which can lead to infection in multiple parts of the reproductive system, such as appendix and parts of the intestine. The most common area of infection is fallopian tubes. These diseases are caused by intercourse, pelvic tuberculosis, ruptured appendix, or non-sterile abortions. But mostly, sexually transmitted diseases are root cause of PID.
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS): In this syndrome, higher quantity of male hormones is produced by the ovaries. Small cysts are also visible in the ovaries of women suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The cause of this syndrome, as stated by infertility specialists, is hormonal imbalance. Women with PCOS suffer from excessive weight gain, uneven menstrual periods and massive hair growth and acne.
